For your Friday New Media class, you will be meeting in the Photo Studio. Class starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. The structure of the class will be explained during the first week of classes.
Here is the supply list for your classes:
You will need to purchase a portable SSD drive to transfer / archive your work (back up your hard drive) and to be able to transport your files to our production print lab :
You can buy these supplies at any art store or online. The closest art store to the school is Dick Blick (Across the street from Seattle Central on Broadway — 1600 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122).
There may be additional materials needed as your classes progress, but this is a list of most of what you will need in order to complete assignments and exercises. These items are for all six quarters and will be used weekly.
• Sketchbook, spiral bound, any size you like (no lines or grids, just blank pages please)
• Tracing paper pad approx. 9 x 12”
• Double-sided tape or a Glue stick
• #11 x-acto knife with extra blades
Throughout the program you will be introduced to many tools, programs, and techniques. Here are some of the common programs / software we will teach you and below are some links if you would like to become familiar with them and explore before school begins:
>> Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, AfterEffects
>> Figma: Introduction / Basics
Many companies in our industry use a program called Slack for general communication, team projects, meetings, etc. You have been invited to SCCA's Slack Channel for your class year and this will be the primary way most instructors will communicate with you while you are in our program.
During your first Introduction to Design Class we will be taking a look at Slack together and going over some of it's features to help you become more familiar using it.
Here are a couple of links to get you more comfortable with Slack if you are interested in exploring before school begins:
Some students have found Notion to be a useful tool to help organize all their projects and deadlines while at school:
>> Notion website and Getting Started
>> SCCA Template Sample (you may copy this site template if you think it might be useful to you)
Once you register for classes your name and information will be put into the school system.
>> Click here for accessing CTC LInk for New Students
Your ctcLink account gives you access to the following applications:
• Manage Classes: register for, add, and drop classes your classes each quarter
• Academic Records: view grades and past classes and download unofficial transcripts
• Profile: view or update personal information, including your contact information
• Financial Account: pay tuition and fees and check your account balance
• Financial Aid: manage and accept financial aid awards and applications
• Report Time as a Student Employee
• Apply for Graduation
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Also after you register for classes and are put into the school system you will be receiving a key card that will grant you access to the classrooms and production print lab on the floor.
This process usually takes 3–4 weeks at the beginning of the school year for you to receive a key card.

This site is a growing and ever changing resource for current students, faculty, and alumni.
Most of the sections on this site relate to specific classes and resources for the program.
There is a growing number of sections useful for alumni too and there's hopes to keep it growing as time moves forward.
If you have any links or resources you might like to share with other students, faculty, & alumni, please reach out to me, ( Jill V) and I will add it. Thanks!
